At Metis Bookshop, we believe every book deserves to be read and enjoyed—not left gathering dust or thrown away. By donating your books to us, you’re helping to keep stories alive while supporting a more sustainable way to shop.

📚 What Happens to Your Books?

When you donate your books to us, they go on a journey:

• Loved and read again by new readers

• Sold online or at our local market stalls

• Recycled responsibly as a last resort

Nothing goes to waste—we do everything we can to give each book a second life.

🚚 How to Donate

We aim to make donating as easy as possible:

• Local collections – If you’re based nearby, we may be able to collect from you

• Drop-offs – You can arrange to drop books off with us. We have two locations for drop-offs.
  1. Marcliffe Estate, Hazel Grove ~ This is by prior arrangement and for large quantities of books
  2. Mirrlees Estate, Hazel Grove ~ Again, by prior arrangement and is for smaller quantities of books. 

• Larger clearances – We’re happy to work with home organisers, house moves, and decluttering projects

We welcome most books, but due to space, we may not be able to accept everything. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us before donating.
